Our tours are carbon neutral! Introduction to Carbon Offsetting ECO2Travelling is a scheme designed to measure the impact companies have on the environment by their burning of fossil fuels. It aims to raise awareness of the carbon footprint of each activity that generates greenhouse gas emissions. We measure the amount of CO2 released by our vehicles' consumption of diesel fuels to give a calculable environmental impact of Roots Travel. By working with Itzama, we offset this impact by purchasing certificates of emission reduction generated by renewable energy projects. Green electricity generated by such projects replaces electricity that would otherwise be generated by coal-fired power plants thereby reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
