What can I see?

  • The Peak District is one of the most beautiful areas of upland in England
  • Chatsworth House is the home of the Duke of Devonshire, one of the most impressive historic houses in Britain

The Peak District is a beautiful area of upland running north-south in the centre of England between Manchester and Birmingham. The hills in the north are bleak and windswept with stunning landscapes. The south of the region has tranquil streams running through steep-sided vallleys with lush countryside and glorious views. It is truly one of the most beautiful regions of England. Chatsworth House is more like a palace than a house. Fabulous rooms in a stately mansion surrounded by idyllic parkland.

Plan for the day

We leave Cambridge early to arive in the Peaks mid-morning. Today, we venture into the valleys and high on the moorland before lunch. For lunch, we head for the pretty market town of Bakewell, set in the heart of the National Park and then afterwards head for the magnificent home of the Duke of Devonshire, Chatsworth House. We return to Cambridge mid-evening.
