Windsor
Castle is the largest occupied castle in the world and an official
residence of The Queen. It contains a royal palace with wonderful
State Apartments used for ceremonies and a magnificent chapel
housing the tombs of ten sovereigns of England. The town of Eton
on the opposite banks of the River Thames from the castle is connected
by a footbridge. It is a quaint historic place famous for its
public school. Its most recent famous pupils? Princes William
& Harry!

Plan
for the day
|
On
arrival in Windsor the first stop is the castle. However, if the
weather is good, we will first take a stroll into Windsor Great
Park where there are magnificent views of the Castle. After an introductory
talk about the castle and its place in British history, you will
have free time to explore its many attractions. But there is more
to see than just the castle. Take a stroll out into Windsor Great
Park for great views of the castle, wander the narrow shopping streets
of Windsor town, relax by the banks of the River Thames which flows
between the towns of Windsor and Eton, or sample British upper class
society in the antique shops and the famous college at Eton. |
